Getting Sh*t Done Even When You’re Not “Feeling It”

The blog of here and now.

We don’t talk about this enough — the days when motivation is low, the inbox is full, and your brain feels like a browser with 27 tabs open (and one of them is playing music but you don’t know which).

As a freelancer and digital support specialist, I live in that space between getting things done and trying not to burn out. Some days I’m in flow — knocking out deliverables, optimizing funnels, and sipping coffee like it’s a vibe. Other days, it’s chaos. Real life. Family stuff. Doubt. Fog.

This post is for those “other” days.

What I've Learned After 5 Years Behind the Laptop

Productivity isn’t always about waking up at 5AM, blocking out your calendar, or downloading your 3rd project management app of the month.

Sometimes? It’s about choosing the smallest next step that moves the needle.

Because the truth is:

  • You don’t need to finish the whole task.

  • You don’t need a content calendar before you post something helpful.

  • You don’t need to feel “ready” to begin.

My Go-To Strategy: Micro-Momentum

When I’m stuck, I don’t force a massive sprint. I go small — but steady:

  • Reply to one email that’s been haunting me

  • Clean up one Trello card

  • Outline one blog post (hi 👋🏼)

  • Create a 15-minute timer and work on just that

  • Rename files or clear the digital clutter

  • Write anything, even if it’s ugly

The point? Action creates clarity. Not the other way around.

But What If I Just… Can’t?

Then stop. Seriously.

Take the walk. Watch the show. Cry it out. Then remind yourself: this is the work. Showing up for yourself before the perfect idea or “productive energy” arrives.

You’re Not Behind. You’re Building.

This is your reminder that the behind-the-scenes stuff — the mental reset, the 15-minute breakthrough, the quiet “get it done” hours — all count.

You’re doing more than you think.

And when you’re ready to move forward again, even a few steps? I hope you do it with less guilt, more grace, and just enough momentum to feel proud.

TL;DR (Too Lazy? Do Read.)

  • Small steps count

  • You don’t need to feel ready to start

  • Micro-momentum > burnout

  • Progress isn’t always loud

  • Give yourself credit for showing up — even when it’s messy
